If you’ve been walking your socks off and think your walking boots have had it and need throwing away, then think again. They may not be good enough to support your feet while hiking anymore but could they be used for something else? Many charities accept shoes and boots along with other clothes and items from the home in their charity bags. They could be just what someone needs to keep their feet warm and dry on the streets.

Or you could be a bit more creative, boots of all shapes and sizes can make very effective planters, so why not get in the garden, fill them with soil and pop some pretty pansies in the top.
